H9 Talent Solutions are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to support the delivery of a major energy infrastructure project in Essex. Working as part of the project delivery team, the successful candidate will provide professional HSE guidance across construction, installation, and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, company standards, and client requirements.
This is a six-month contract opportunity operating outside IR35.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HSE support to site management, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Monitor compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations.
- Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and workforce engagement initiatives.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure effective management of permit-to-work systems and high-risk activities.
- Support environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and KPI data for client and management review.
- Participate in project meetings and provide proactive advice on HSE matters during construction and commissioning phases.
- Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement across the project.
Skills & Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum requirement).
- Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH or GradIOSH preferred).
- Proven HSE experience within energy, power generation, renewables, utilities, or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and UK health, safety, and environmental legislation.
