We are seeking an experienced Project Planner (Outside IR35) to join a major UK infrastructure and construction project based in the Durham area on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to support the delivery of a nationally significant engineering project, working within a multidisciplinary project team responsible for planning, monitoring, and reporting on key construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project programmes using Primavera P6.
  • Produce integrated construction schedules and progress reporting information.
  • Monitor project performance against programme baselines.
  • Identify programme risks, delays, and opportunities, providing mitigation strategies where required.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and support project recovery planning activities.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for project and client stakeholders.
  • Support change control processes and assess the programme impact of variations.
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial teams to ensure alignment across project activities.
  • Participate in planning and progress review meetings.
  • Assist with forecasting and project controls activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a Project Planner within construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, or civil engineering sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of project planning principles and Critical Path Methodology (CPM).
  • Experience developing and maintaining complex project schedules.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working on major infrastructure, power, utilities, transmission, or renewable energy projects.
  • Familiarity with NEC forms of contract.
  • Knowledge of earned value management and project controls.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
  • Relevant engineering, construction, or project management qualification.
