Role: Commissioning Lead Field Instrumentation - Outside IR35 - 6 months+ - North West

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Commissioning plan for Instrumentation (Field instrumentation cold and hot commissioning) and support for procedures of Automation (Automation System DCS)
  • Preparation of Commissioning procedures for Field instrument (transmitters, local indicators, valve positions, hookups, cabling and termination, field cabling Jbox, Equipment, pumps, Motorized valves, pneumatic valves, etc)
  • Support to preparation of Commissioning procedures for Automation system (DCS Siemens system, etc) and coordination of interface with DCS integrator engineers
  • Responsibility for field Instrument Control and Automation system contribution to the overall plant commissioning plan
  • Responsibility for field Instrument system contribution to the development of HSE plan for commissioning
  • Identification of utilities, spare and consumables for commissioning process
  • Field instrumentation focal point for Interface with Client, OEM and contractor
  • Main interface with Control and Automation system (DCS integrators)
  • Responsibility for site walk-down for field Instrument system installation checks before and during commissioning
  • Accountability for Field Instrument system testing activities during commissioning
  • Supervision and coordination of site commissioning activities and teams
  • Field Instrument system troubleshooting and remedies implementation during commissioning
  • Field Instrument system commissioning activity progress and milestone achievement
  • Project HSE plan implementation for the field Instrument system site commissioning
  • Project Quality plan implementation for the field Instrument Control and Automation system site commissioning
  • RAMS and Permit to work implementation for field Instrument system Commissioning activities
  • I&C field instrument commissioning documentation and documents as built
  • Reporting of commissioning activities to Project coordinators and project manager
  • Technical Support to project team

Experience and skills:

  • Ideally 5-10 years of experience in site commissioning of field Instrument system in power generation / Oil and Gas and or industrial plant
  • Experience of Control and Automation system commissioning is also appreciated
  • A Degree in I&C and automation engineering or a related field or equivalent proven experience
  • A strong understanding of Field instrumentation systems (and DCS) with deep knowledge of instrumentations and hook ups design, maintenance, operation and commissioning
  • Understanding and knowledge of field instrumentation and Control and Automation system with specific experience in the UK (with associated standards and norms) is a plus
  • Knowledge of field Instrumentation & Control systems for industrial application, Power generation plant based on Gas Turbine is a plus
  • Technical coordination and management of site teams
  • Result oriented proactive approach with focus on project goals, deadline and schedule milestones
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders for effective reporting to managers and client
  • Knowledge and experience with instrumentation, valves, positioners, etc of major industrial brands (Endress + Hauser, Fisher, Auma, etc.)
