We are working with a Global Renewable Energy Business who specialise in Solar & BESS to find an Operations Manager to join their team. As an Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a portfolio of Solar and BESS O&M contracts.
Your key objectives will be to:
- Maximise energy production from client assets
- Improve maintenance efficiency
- Ensure full compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
This is a permanent role, primarily office-based with regular site travel and some weekend on-call requirements. A company vehicle allowance, laptop, tablet, and mobile phone will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- First point of contact for the O&M service, providing clients with updates and information. Delivering 24/7 in line with contractual requirements.
- Create and implement maintenance schedules aligned with contracts and manufacturer guidance.
- Line manages engineering teams, ensuring strict HSQE compliance.
- Review RAMS, permits, and procedures.
- Lead site adoption processes and integrate new assets into maintenance systems.
- Oversee tools, vehicles, and equipment needs.
- Ensure reactive callouts and emergencies are handled efficiently.
- Maintain relationships with clients, DNOs, asset owners, and internal teams.
- Support investigations and drive performance improvement.
- Own P&L responsibilities, invoicing, and supplier payment processes.
- Manage CMMS and quality systems.
- Liaising with external stakeholders such as Internal depts, Asset management teams, DNO and asset owner.
- Act as first point of contact for client reporting.
- Develop and lead team appraisals, onboarding, and ongoing development.
Knowledge & Experience
- Deep knowledge of UK LV electrical asset legislation and O&M standards (e.g. HSG230)
- Proven commercial and contractual management skills
- Track record in managing ISO9001-compliant systems
- Experience leading engineering teams and multi-site portfolios
- Familiarity with utility-scale solar farms
- Knowledge of battery energy storage systems
Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence
