H9 Talent Solutions are partnering with a well-established global manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager for their flagship manufacturing site in Darwen. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SHE professional to join a business with significant investment, where you'll play a key role in developing safety culture, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the site maintains the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

The Role

  • Reporting into the senior leadership team, you'll take ownership of the site's SHE strategy, ensuring legal compliance while embedding best practice across manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the site's Health, Safety & Environmental strategy
  • Developing and improving SHE management systems and procedures
  • Driving behavioural safety initiatives and continuous improvement programmes
  • Leading accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing preventative actions
  • Managing environmental compliance including permits, waste and sustainability initiatives
  • Conducting audits, inspections and KPI reporting
  • Supporting capital projects with SHE risk assessments and compliance
  • Working closely with operational teams to build a proactive safety culture
  • Acting as the site's SHE expert and key contact for regulatory bodies

About You

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification)
  • Minimum 5 years' SHE management experience within manufacturing or process industries
  • Strong understanding of UK Health, Safety & Environmental legislation
  • Experience implementing and improving SHE management systems
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience leading investigations, audits and compliance programmes
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for continuous improvement
