My clients team is expanding and looking for a Commercial Manager to support the successful delivery of Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects (and wider utility-scale renewables).
This is a hands-on commercial role combining a Quantity Surveying / cost management foundation with strong contract administration and claims management capability. You’ll support projects from tender through delivery and close-out, ensuring robust commercial governance, tight cost control, and effective risk mitigation.
- Build and manage project cost estimates, budgets, cash flow forecasts and commercial reporting
- Produce scope documents and commercial appendices for tender packs
- Support tender evaluations, risk assessments, and pre-contract reviews
- Administer and manage contracts with OEMs / technology suppliers and contractors
- Track milestones and ensure suppliers/contractors deliver in line with contractual obligations
- Lead on change control: variations, early warnings, compensation events, EoT claims, LD logs
- Monitor spend vs budget and support final account settlements
5–7+ years in a Quantity Surveying / Commercial role within construction / infrastructure
Strong contracts experience – confident managing and negotiating live project issues
Working knowledge of NEC / FIDIC / MF1 contract forms (one or more is fine, but must be strong)
Proactive, organised, commercially sharp, confident dealing with stakeholders and contractors
Degree in QS / Construction Management / Engineering (or similar)
Understanding of grid connection interfaces, HV scopes, and construction timelines for BESS
Work on high-profile energy transition projects with an investor-backed platform
Broad scope across pre- and post-contract commercial management
London base with sensible site exposure (occasional travel only)
