Are you a technically minded salesperson who enjoys building relationships rather than chasing transactional sales targets? Do you enjoy getting out to customers, understanding their challenges and developing long-term partnerships that create real value? This is an opportunity to join an established engineering business with an impressive global customer base and a strong reputation within the industrial sector. The products are proven, the customers already exist, and the opportunity is significant.
The business is now looking for someone who can reconnect with existing customers, develop new opportunities, and build a more proactive, structured sales function (including helping populate a new CRM) that supports the next phase of growth.
The Role: This is a relationship-led technical sales role focused on developing business with industrial customers across the UK and international markets. You'll spend time visiting customers, understanding their applications, identifying opportunities and building long-term partnerships. Order values range from around Β£8,000 for individual units up to Β£200,000 for larger capital equipment, so this is a genuine consultative sale, not a high-volume transactional one. You won't be expected to be in one location or one office - this role is built around time on the road. Initially the focus is UK and Ireland; once established, there's scope to take on European and international territory.
One of the most attractive aspects of this position is the quality of the customer base you'll be working with. Customers include major industrial operators, engineering service providers, distributors and multinational organisations operating within sectors such as Oil & Gas, Energy, and industrial manufacturing. The business has established relationships with globally recognised organisations and is looking to further strengthen its position within these markets.
The Candidate: We're looking for someone who combines commercial drive with the ability to build credibility with technical customers, and who is comfortable managing their own diary and territory. You may already be working in a Technical Sales Engineer, Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager or Account Manager position within an engineering environment, ideally with experience selling engineering consumables or capital equipment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience selling capital equipment
- Background in mechanical engineering
- The ability to engage confidently with engineers and technical stakeholders
- A proactive approach to developing business opportunities
- Strong organisational and account management skills
- Commercial awareness and negotiation ability
- A willingness to travel both within the UK and internationally
This is an opportunity to join a business where your contribution will matter, with a clear route to a bigger regional or international remit as you prove yourself. Please click apply if you'd like to find out more.
