Be the go-to technical expert for a UK engineering manufacturer with a 6% employer pension and annual bonus. Clear route into technical leadership, with potential line management.

This isn’t a support role where you pass questions on to someone else. You’d be the person the business turns to when a customer needs the right product for a difficult application. Our client is an established UK manufacturer of high-quality specialist engineered products, supplying a diverse range of highly regulated and industrial markets around the world.

As part of an established and growing business, they are looking for a Technical Product Specialist to become the principal technical authority for the product range, both for customers and inside the business. You’ll work with customers and distributors to understand what they actually need, then turn that into accurate specifications that can be manufactured. You’ll work closely with sales, engineering, production and quality, so you’ll see the product from the first enquiry through to the finished sensor. It’s a role with real ownership, in a business where your technical input shapes what gets made and how.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Advising customers and distributors on sensor selection, materials, accuracy, response time, environmental protection and standards
  • Turning customer requirements into clear, manufacturable product specifications, and signing them off within agreed authority
  • Supporting sales with quotations, technical enquiries and customer meetings
  • Supporting drawings, bills of materials, manufacturing instructions, testing and validation
  • Helping to design, prototype, test and launch new products
  • Solving technical problems with production and quality, including nonconformance investigations and root cause analysis
  • Training sales and production colleagues and building an accessible technical knowledge base
  • Supporting testing, validation and technical documentation as that function grows, with potential future line management of a technical support technician

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have most of the following:

  • An engineering qualification, or equivalent relevant experience
  • A background in instrumentation, sensing or technically engineered products
  • The ability to read a specification and turn customer needs into practical solutions
  • Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills
