We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business. They are now looking to appoint a Health and Safety Officer to manage the site's full H&S function, working closely with the Operations Director. This is a genuinely influential role where you'll help shape safety culture, strengthen compliance, and directly impact the wellbeing of everyone on site.
The Role
- You will lead a proactive Health & Safety function, ensuring safe systems of work are understood, embedded and continuously improved across the operation.
- You’ll act as the trusted voice for safety on site supporting leaders, guiding teams, and driving practical improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, practical H&S guidance to senior leaders and line managers
- Support HR and Technical teams with safety aspects of internal and external audits
- Develop and implement workplace Health & Safety plans in line with legislation
- Create and embed policies and procedures that promote a consistent safety culture
- Conduct site inspections and drive improvement actions
- Ensure statutory inspections are completed (FLT, lifting equipment, fire systems, racking etc.)
- Lead accident and incident investigations
- Deliver training, inductions and toolbox talks
- Promote near-miss reporting and maintain action logs
- Maintain COSHH data and safe operating procedures
- Develop emergency procedures and fire safety records
- Chair monthly H&S meetings and track KPIs
What We're Looking For
- NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
- Previous H&S experience in a site-based environment
- Strong communication skills across all levels
- Practical, hands-on approach
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and influence others
