We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business. They are now looking to appoint a Health and Safety Officer to manage the site's full H&S function, working closely with the Operations Director. This is a genuinely influential role where you'll help shape safety culture, strengthen compliance, and directly impact the wellbeing of everyone on site.

The Role

  • You will lead a proactive Health & Safety function, ensuring safe systems of work are understood, embedded and continuously improved across the operation.
  • You’ll act as the trusted voice for safety on site supporting leaders, guiding teams, and driving practical improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, practical H&S guidance to senior leaders and line managers
  • Support HR and Technical teams with safety aspects of internal and external audits
  • Develop and implement workplace Health & Safety plans in line with legislation
  • Create and embed policies and procedures that promote a consistent safety culture
  • Conduct site inspections and drive improvement actions
  • Ensure statutory inspections are completed (FLT, lifting equipment, fire systems, racking etc.)
  • Lead accident and incident investigations
  • Deliver training, inductions and toolbox talks
  • Promote near-miss reporting and maintain action logs
  • Maintain COSHH data and safe operating procedures
  • Develop emergency procedures and fire safety records
  • Chair monthly H&S meetings and track KPIs

What We're Looking For

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
  • Previous H&S experience in a site-based environment
  • Strong communication skills across all levels
  • Practical, hands-on approach
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and influence others
