Enjoy getting into the detail of electrical design, rather than simply reviewing someone else's work?
What if you could take ownership of electrical systems from initial concept through to build, testing and commissioning, working on technology that's moving towards commercial deployment?
H-Power is a UK-based clean energy business developing hydrogen power systems, combining ammonia-to-hydrogen technology with fuel cells to provide alternatives to conventional diesel generators.
As the business continues to develop and commercialise its technology, we're looking for a
Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer to join its engineering team in Dunsfold.
Why consider this opportunity?
This is a genuinely hands-on design role, with the opportunity to influence electrical architecture and detailed design across hydrogen generation, fuel cell and integrated power systems.
You'll take ownership of electrical design activities, producing schematics, wiring diagrams, control-panel layouts and manufacturing documentation.
Working closely with mechanical, process and controls engineers, you'll select components, develop electrical systems and support equipment through build, integration, testing and commissioning.
You'll also have the opportunity to solve real engineering challenges, contribute to design improvements and support less experienced engineers as the team grows.
Importantly, you'll see your designs become working equipment, rather than handing them over once the drawings are complete.
What experience will you need?
We're looking for an engineer with practical electrical design experience gained within industrial machinery, automation, process equipment, power generation or a similar engineering environment.
You’ll ideally bring
- Hands-on experience producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control-panel designs.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD software such as EPLAN, Auto CAD Electrical or Solid Works Electrical.
- A sound understanding of LV distribution, electrical protection, cable sizing and component selection.
- Experience designing electrical systems involving PLCs, instrumentation and industrial controls.
- Practical involvement in equipment build, testing, commissioning or fault-finding.
Knowledge of relevant electrical standards, machinery safety or hazardous-area requirements would be valuable.
You don't need previous hydrogen or fuel cell experience.
What's on offer?
- The opportunity to take genuine ownership of electrical design across multiple products
- Exposure to innovative hydrogen and power generation technologies
- Bonus
- Private medical insurance
- Eligibility for the company share option scheme, subject to approval
- A collaborative engineering environment with direct involvement from design through to commissioning
