H.A McEwen (Boiler Repairs) Ltd are a specialist engineering company based near Keighley in West Yorkshire. We are looking to recruit an Apprentice Welder to join our family‑run business. This is a great opportunity for a young and ambitious person looking to forge a career in engineering. Our engineers possess a wealth of knowledge and skills, combining time‑honoured craftsmanship with the latest advancements in boiler technology. Working alongside industry experts, you’ll learn from the best in both the heritage and industrial domains.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • The role will see the successful candidate work alongside our current engineers both in the Industrial and heritage boiler sectors to learn the basics of engineering and welding through to becoming a coded welder in TIG and/or MMA.
  • A full training programme will be provided and overseen by our highly skilled team including many opportunities to attend relevant training courses to increase your skills further.
  • There is also the potential to undertake an NVQ in welding and fabrication at a local college.
  • You will work closely on many diverse and interesting projects learning in‑depth knowledge of the work we undertake including but not limited to boiler and pipework installations, boiler repairs, general fabrication, and heritage projects.
  • You will also join our service team from time to time as and when required.

  • We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated and hardworking individual with excellent attention to detail while working to a deadline and someone who will work well within a team.
  • The role is hands‑on and will involve heavy lifting.

Other Information

  • The successful candidate needs to be based within travelling distance of our works near Keighley in West Yorkshire.
  • Though you will be based at our works you will work across the UK and working away will be required at times.
  • Some engineering experience would be helpful but not essential.
  • A full UK driving licence is required and character references are available upon request.
