Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Duties

  • Accountable for project teams executing projects on time, on scope, and on budget while maintaining ATL values with the customer and throughout the ATL organization.

  • Leveraging engineers to take the lead on delivering the technical solutions for the project(s).

  • Leveraging project managers to lead out on project execution with activities such as planning, monitoring and control, executing projects, closing projects and risk management.

  • Resource planning and allocation to projects. This includes identifying when new resources are needed and hiring the right person to fill the requirement.

  • Work interdepartmentally to remove roadblocks for project teams.

  • Monitor and report on the performance of projects and employees to management.

  • Supports internal company initiatives such as continuous improvement projects and business process development.

  • Compiling, reporting, and presenting on project execution performance and status to varying levels of leadership, both internally and externally.

  • Coordinate with other Managers and the Functional team to ensure consistency in role expectations of direct reports.

  • Be an avid learner to ensure regular training for the team in topics pertinent to new and developing technologies, topics of interest, etc. related to the customer base and targeted market segments.

  • Regular proactive monitoring and reporting of performance of KPIs to ensure deviations are identified early and addressed and to ensure successes are recognized and celebrated.

  • Familiarity with the tools and processes used by subordinates to increase understanding of day-to-day expectations and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Communicating with global resources – flexible work schedule to accommodate early morning and or evening meetings.

  • Launch projects with <5% defect rate in the first year of production.

  • Using ATL resources, and with support from the engineering management team, identify technology and competency gaps in ATL to the market needs and outline:

Personnel training plans (including knowledge of surgical procedures, devices, and industry leaders in the company focused market segments)

IR&D roadmap

  • Proactively and effectively participate in external facing communications including resolution of escalated and difficult conflicts to all levels of organizations to build and maintain lasting trust based ethical relationships.

  • Adhere to and implement the behaviours, policies and procedures of the company as laid out in the Employee Handbook

  • All other essential duties as required.

Leadership Skills:

  • Demonstrable track record of leading professional engineering teams working on complex, multifaceted product development projects.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience of developing complex electronic equipment highly desirable. Strong understanding of electronics and/or software programming preferred. Ideal candidate would have electronic / software engineering background and training.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to read and interpret business charts, spreadsheets, etc.

Appropriate Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent computer skills (Including, but not limited to: Windows, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project or other scheduling or project management software Basis in CAD/CAE software tools is a plus).

  • Practical skills in project management strategies such as PMBOK, Agile, SCRUM, etc.

  • Clear understanding of the elements of a product development processes.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing process.

  • Familiarity with engineering change control.

  • Comfortable reading engineering documents such as schematics and drawings.

  • Strong Interpersonal and team building skills required.
