OVERVIEW:
This role will lead the graphic design team with the creation of all Gymshark product graphics and prints.
The Graphic Design Manager will allocate workload and drive excellence through the creation process to finished product.
WHAT YOU\’LL BE DOING:
Responsible for:
- Creating graphics and prints in line with the company briefs and brand guidelines.
- Analysing the workload of the team and allocating work appropriately.
- Coaching, mentoring, and managing direct reports, assessing development opportunities and defining goals.
- Partnering with the Buying and Merchandising teams by generating graphics and prints outside of the critical path to maximise revenue opportunities.
- Researching the marketplace trends, influences and key activities.
- Presenting graphics and prints at key sign off meetings.
- Work with the Development teams to ensure high-quality product execution.
- Awareness of competitors.
- Investigating and actioning on consumer’s product needs.
- Driving graphic and print creation within the critical path ensuring all milestone deadlines are adhered to.
- Ensure graphics and prints are handed over with accurate details and specifications.
Accountable for:
- Managing a team of Graphic and Print Designers.
- Day to day management of the graphic and print design team tasks and workload.
- Recruitment of new talent.
- Driving in season trading opportunities as well as inline creation.
- The execution of product vision gained from market and consumer needs.
- Having a customer first approach when creating designs.
- Collaborating with both mens and womens apparel teams to ensure there is a synergy.
- Inspiring the product team through creativity and flair.
- Be involved in market trips including competitive benchmarking, gaining customer insights, researching conditioning activities and exploring opportunities for inspiring the team.
- Be involved in supplier visits to build relationship to better benefit the business in speed and development.
- Understanding the commercial impact of current and past Gymshark products and learn from any mistakes.
WHAT YOU\’LL NEED:
Essential Criteria:
- Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft office.
- Aesthetic, technical and commercial awareness combined with a curious and creative outlook.
- Excellent illustration skills.
- Willingness to experiment through materials and process.
- Continuously looking at new ways to create and evolve prints and graphics.
- Experience of designing graphics and all over prints.
- Knowledge of the branded sportwear market.
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic and fast changing environment.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once.
- Knowledge of varying print techniques and willingness to learn.
Preferred Skills:
- Passion for functional sportswear.
- Willing to challenge and be challenged.
- Willingness to give and receive effective feedback.
- Track record of leading a team
This is a hybrid role and would require the successful candidate to attend at least 3 days a week in GSIQ, Solihull, UK.
