Here at GXO, we are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join our Transport team, supporting multiple customers at our Doncaster site. You will be instrumental in providing financial insights, analysis and support across a number of contracts. The role involves:
- Preparing weekly reporting revenue submission files, variance and trend analysis of both revenue and subcontractor costs to ensure trading results are understood.
- Monthly SOX compliant balance sheet reconciliations prepared to a high standard, demonstrating full understanding, governance & visibility.
- Regularly supporting the payroll and/or fleet reporting teams as work demands dictate.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 or 09:00 to 17:00. This role is hybrid with a requirement to be onsite 1 to 2 days per week.
Pay, benefits and more: We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £36,000 and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Take ownership of weekly P&L reporting, including revenue recognition and subcontracted delivery costs across Group Transport contracts.
- Maintain SOX-compliant balance sheet controls, including accrued revenue and GRNI, with accurate monthly reconciliations in Blackline.
- Prepare weekly revenue and subcontractor cost submissions, ensuring correct treatment based on individual customer contract terms.
- Analyse operational data (deliveries, loads, tonnage) and work confidently across Ortec (TMS) and Oracle finance systems.
- Deliver month-end journals to strict deadlines, support internal/external audits, and provide timely billing information to central teams.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, new contract onboarding, and collaborate flexibly with payroll and fleet reporting teams as required.

- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to maintain, improve and create new working files and tools.
- Beneficial experience includes balance sheet control or compliance (practice, UK audit or SOX), plus knowledge of management accounting, logistics or heavy industry.
