Here at GXO, we are looking for a Class 1 Lead Driver in Sherburn to combine hands-on driving duties with a key role in developing and supporting our driver workforce. You will be responsible for delivering driver coaching, inductions, assessments, and compliance support while remaining actively involved in day-to-day transport opportunities.
This is a full-time, permanent position. You will work any 5 from 7, working 45 hours per week covering both AM and PM shifts so flexibility is key!

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead by example, promoting safe driving behaviours, compliance, and exceptional customer service standards
- Deliver driver inductions, coaching, mentoring, and practical training for new and existing drivers
- Conduct driver assessments, licence checks, vehicle familiarisations, and competency reviews
- Support transport management with compliance activities, investigations, performance reviews, and development plans
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- A full UK valid Class 1 (Category C + E) licence, Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card
- Strong Class 1 driving experience with strong knowledge of Driver Hours and Working Time Directive regulations
- Previous experience coaching, mentoring, training, or supporting drivers
- No more than 3 current penalty points
- No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements with a conviction date within the previous 5 years
