Here at GXO, we are looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join us on our Carlsberg contract in Northampton. As a member of the Site Senior Management Team, you will oversee the sites QHSE function, providing expert advice and support on all aspects of health, safety, environment, ESG and engagement objectives. Implement, maintain, and manage systems to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for all staff, visitors, agency workers, and contractors. Promote and drive a safety culture to assist in the delivery of Road to Zero
You will join us on a full time, permanent basis, primarily working Monday to Friday, 08:00 -16:00. However, some flexibility is required, due to the nature of the role. This is logistics after all!

What youll do on a typical day:
Ensure full compliance with current and evolving legislation
Develop, implement, and maintain safety management systems to protect colleagues and the business
Advise and support site and senior management on health, safety, and environmental matters
Lead and facilitate risk assessments and safe systems of work for all site activities
Coordinate and support staff training to ensure compliance and competency across all departments
Provide accurate statistical and performance data to GXO local senior management, GXO QHSE central management and the customer
Investigate all RIDDOR, lost time, and incidents requiring escalation, producing detailed reports
Manage escalation processes for significant occurrences in line with GXO policies
Manage the vetting and control of external contractors on site, complete permits to work as required
What you need to succeed at GXO:
NEBOSH General or NVQ level 3 and following CPD programme
Strong experience in a similar role in a food, beverage environment
HACCP Level 2 qualification – desirable
Exposure to accident investigation, including full analysis and reporting
The ability and confidence to influence senior stakeholders on all aspects of health and safety

Promoting and driving a culture of safety engagement in line with the Road to Zero philosophy and improving performance through the implementation of relevant management systems current standards and legislation; maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by the identification and control of risks, leading to the prevention of accidents and causes of work-related ill health.
