Are you a confident Health and Safety Advisor and thrive in a site-based leadership role, partnering with operational and senior teams to shape culture, build capability, and drive H&S performance while supporting wider sites when needed? If so, we want to hear from you!

As Health and Safety Advisor, you will lead and champion Health & Safety across a diverse 24/7 multi-user Harlow distribution operation, for our Home Delivery Network. Ensuring compliance with UK legislation, driving the GXO Road to Zero philosophy, and fostering a proactive culture of safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with site leadership and regional stakeholders, you will influence safety performance, manage risk, support audits and compliance activities, and help create a safe and healthy working environment across the site and wider regional network. This is a full time, permanent position with contracted hours of 40 per week. Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30 - with flexibility required for business needs.

Pay, benefits and more: We're looking to offer a salary of up to GBP40,000 per annum, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts!

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Lead and support the delivery of the site QHSE strategy
  • Drive a proactive safety culture, promoting colleague engagement, coaching managers, and implementing effective corrective actions from audits, risk assessments, accident investigations, and near–miss reporting
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, legislation, and audit requirements, maintaining robust standards and supporting continuous operational improvement
  • Analyse, report, and communicate safety performance data, providing regular updates, metrics, and action plans to QHSE committees, site leadership teams, and key stakeholders
  • Champion continuous improvement across the operation and wider region, supporting other business unit sites when required and demonstrating flexibility to meet the needs of a 24/7 operation

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Proven ability to influence and engage operational leaders, driving measurable safety improvement through coaching, investigation, and effective stakeholder management
  • Strong investigative and problem–solving capability, able to manage complex issues, lead outcomes, and drive continuous improvement in fast‑paced operational environments
  • Highly organised, self‑motivated, and disciplined, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining high standards and integrity
  • Confident and effective communicator, able to build trusted, professional relationships with colleagues, customers, regional teams, and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Experienced and technically competent safety professional (NEBOSH / NVQ L3 Qualification essential), with experience in a supervisory or safety–related role (logistics background beneficial)
