Here at GXO we are looking for a Customs & Excise Manager to join us at our Shared User site in Minworth. You will manage all Customs & Excise activities and provide subject matter expertise ensuring compliance with all HMRC and associated legislative requirements for the movement of goods inbound and outbound on behalf of all In Flight Supplies customers.
This is a permanent, full time position working Monday – Friday between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, however we would expect a degree of flexibility.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Manage the team to ensure all customs & excise administration processes are completed to comply with HMRC site approvals
- Collate and submit periodic reports/declarations to HMRC on behalf of GXO and 3rd party operations in scope of relevant contracts.
- Responsible for writing Standard Operations Procedures and ensure continuous improvement of site Work Instructions relating to the C&E Function
- Maintain and improve depot customs administrative processes
- Motivate and develop the C&E Administrative team
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Excellent working knowledge of HMRC legislation applicable to Customs & Excise warehousing along with experience of working in a duty suspended and duty paid environment
- Excellent Numerical and analytical skills with expert knowledge of Microsoft excel spreadsheets to advanced level
- Expert user level knowledge of Duty Management systems, working knowledge of CDS essential. Inward Processing Relief – Excellent understanding of.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to build relationships with customers, colleagues and government agency bodies
