Overview
Are you an experienced Transport Shift Manager? Do you like the sound of working on a large, complex operation with one of the biggest names in logistics? Are you ready for a challenge?
We’re looking for a full-time, permanent Transport Team Manager to join us at our Heineken site in Wakefield. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and effective running of our transport function whilst providing leadership and management to the teams to ensure objectives and targets are achieved.
You’ll be working, any 5 from 7, rotating over 06:00 till 14:00, 14:00 till 22:00 and 22:00 till 06:00, some flexibility as some weekend cover is required in peak periods.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £36,000.00 per annum, (inclusive of shift allowance) and 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day
- Providing leadership and effective management of team so that all objectives and targets are achieved
- Ensuring effective communications are developed with and between departments and business streams in order to meet objectives within prescribed timescale
- Coordinating and prioritising activity across the shifts and business streams to ensure customer service requirements are met
- Maintaining accurate records and planning to ensure targets are achieved within the financial costings
- Adhering to Health and Safety, Fire and Security requirements to provide a safe working environment
What you need to succeed at GXO
- A track record at a supervisory or management level within a complex, fast-paced transport operation
- Excellent knowledge of driving compliance and associated regulations, a Manager’s CPC would be ideal!
- Excellent organisational skills and strong interpersonal skills with previous managerial experience
- A strong personality with the ability to effectively manage drivers, push for operational excellence and challenge the status quo
