Ready to be the go‑to expert providing critical out‑of‑hours support that keeps high‑performance systems running 24/7. In this hybrid role you’ll split your time evenly between electrical system build/servicing and PLC/HMI software work, primarily using Siemens TIA S7‑1500 platforms. This is a full‑time permanent position. You’ll be working Monday to Friday, 09:00 till 17:30, and will be required to provide 24/7 out‑of‑hours support. Some flexibility is required.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Build, install and configure control panels and electrical systems for warehouse automation solutions.
- Develop, support and commission Siemens TIA S7‑1500 PLC and HMI software, ensuring seamless system functionality.
- Perform rigorous testing, diagnostics and electrical servicing to maximise uptime and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate hardware and software across full project lifecycles.
- Act as the first point of contact for 24/7 out‑of‑hours PLC/HMI issues, delivering remote diagnostics and on‑site support when required.
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Automation or a related field, plus City & Guilds 2391.
- Strong working knowledge of BS7671, H&S regulations, industrial risk assessments and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to build and install industrial control panels, including wiring, component selection and BS‑standard layouts.
- Hands‑on experience with Siemens TIA Portal / S7‑1500 PLC programming, including code modifications, uploads/downloads and software fault‑finding.
- Skilled in electrical and control system commissioning, troubleshooting (hardware & software), interpreting schematics and performing testing/calibration using multimeters, insulation testers and more.
