Here at GXO, we are recruiting for a Transport Team Manager to join our team in Stafford, for our customer Screwfix. In this role, you’ll provide strong leadership across the transport department, combining proactive people management with technical expertise to ensure our site-based fleet remains legal and safe to operate. Reporting into the Transport Operations Manager, you’ll lead a diverse team, including Transport Administrators and 120 Drivers (including drivers at our Portbury site), while building strong customer relationships and supporting growth within a large-scale operation.

Rotating shift pattern Monday to Friday; 06:00 – 14:00 / 08:00 – 16:00 / 14:00 – 22:00

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £33,100.00 per annum and receive 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • You’ll be overseeing any vehicle defects and repairs and making sure a consistent and thorough vehicle report is created.
  • You will be making sure Health & Safety measures are adhered to, to a high standard for all colleagues on shift.
  • You will be monitoring TUPs, various compliance and general administration duties in line with transport legislation, company policy and procedures.
  • Disciplinaries, investigations, behavioural audits and absence management will also be included in your role.
  • You will have good customer/client engagement skills in order to liaise with your team and Senior Management to ensure a smooth running of service and reporting is done to a high standard.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Having pre-existing management experience is advantageous alongside having any existing Transport knowledge.
  • You will be an organized, driven individual with the ability to work alone and as a team effectively.
  • You’ll also be an effective communicator and able to develop good working relationships at all levels within the Transport Team and to converse confidently with our customer.
  • A level-headed attitude is needed in this pressurised environment as well as being computer literate.
  • Transport Management CPC (National and International) preferred.
