Are you an experienced transport leader who thrives in fast-paced operations and has the drive to inspire teams, deliver exceptional customer service, and achieve outstanding operational performance? Do you have the leadership skills, compliance knowledge, and operational awareness to manage drivers, optimise fleet performance, and play a key role in delivering a safe, efficient, and customer-focused transport operation? Join us as our Transport Supervisor based in our Portbury depot for our customer Octopus. You'll take ownership of a busy transport operation, lead and support our team of drivers to deliver exceptional service, safety, and performance.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly, building strong relationships with colleagues and customers, and ensuring every delivery meets the highest standards. This is a full time, permanent opportunity with 40 hours per week contracted. Working Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:30 pm (flexibility required for business needs).

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Lead and develop a team of drivers, creating a high-performing culture through coaching, performance management, and clear communication of goals and expectations
  • Manage the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring fleet availability, driver compliance, and the safe, efficient delivery of services to customers
  • Champion safety and compliance, ensuring adherence to transport legislation, driver hours regulations, vehicle inspections, and company policies
  • Monitor operational performance, analysing KPIs such as OTIF, driver performance, and damage claims to identify trends and drive continuous improvement
  • Build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, resolving operational challenges, maintaining exceptional service levels, and supporting business objectives

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Proven transport leadership experience, with a track record of managing teams, driving operational performance, and delivering excellent customer service
  • Strong people management skills, able to motivate, coach, and develop drivers and colleagues to achieve business goals and create a high-performing culture
  • Excellent organisational and analytical abilities, with experience using KPIs and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement and drive results
  • Confident communicator and stakeholder manager, capable of building strong relationships across teams, customers, and operational partners
  • Passionate about safety, compliance, and operational excellence, with a solid understanding of transport legislation, industry best practice, and working effectively in a fast-paced environment
