If you’re proactive, commercially aware and ready to take ownership of a complex site, this could be the role for you!

Here at GXO Logistics, we’re looking for an Operations Manager to join our new retail distribution operation in Northampton. This is a purpose‑designed, dedicated site servicing over 250+ stores, where speed, accuracy and service are critical – and where you’ll play a key role in leading a high‑volume, MHE‑heavy operation with a strong focus on cost control and customer delivery. This is a standout opportunity to lead a new, flagship site from the ground up.

This is a full‑time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, either 08:00 – 16:00 or 09:00 - 17:00. Flexibility will be required to support a 24/7 operation when needed.

Pay, benefits and more

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £70,000 per annum, dependant upon experience. What you’ll do on a typical day

  • Lead the end‑to‑end operation across inbound, outbound and support functions, ensuring service, quality and cost KPIs are consistently achieved
  • Own shift performance, driving productivity, accuracy and safety across a high‑volume, case‑picking operation
  • Manage resources, labour planning and cost control, balancing efficiency with service delivery
  • Build and develop strong teams, creating a high‑performance culture with clear expectations and accountability
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the customer and internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and aligned priorities

What you need to succeed at GXO

  • Proven experience in a senior warehouse or operations management role, ideally within a fast‑paced, retail distribution environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, develop and inspire large teams
  • Commercial mindset with a clear understanding of cost drivers, budget control and KPI delivery
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, MHE environments and compliance standards
  • Confident stakeholder manager who can build relationships and influence at all levels
  • Analytical and data‑driven, with the ability to interpret performance and drive improvement
