Qualifications and relevant training
- Good General Standard of Education such as 5 GCSEs or equivalent in literacy and numeracy.
- ILM 3 qualification in Leadership and Team Skills or equivalent.
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (IQL/NPLQ).
- National "Pool Plant Operator" Certificate. Applicants who do not hold the essential qualifications will be expected to complete them as part of the trial period.
- BTEC (or equivalent) in Sport Science/Leisure/Health and Social Care.
- A degree in a relevant subject.
- Level 2 Gym Trainer, with specialist modules such as Spin, Circuit Training, Kettlebells.
- Level 2 Swimming Instructor Qualification.
- Level 2 Diving Instructor Qualification (Bangor only).
- IOSH / Manual Handling. Applicants who do not hold these desirables will be expected to complete them as part of the trial period.
Relevant experience
- Previous experience of leading or managing people.

Job Description
- Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
- Promote and support a healthy way of living for users of the Byw’n Iach Leisure Centre and the broader community.
- Ensure that visitors can use the Centre safely, offering customer care of high standard.
- Responsible for running the Centre day‑to‑day.
- Handle money, record takings and bank them safely.
- Assist in reaching targets related to income, expenditure and use.
- Maintain an effective and efficient staffing level at all times.
- Contribute to the recruitment process and ensure staff undergo induction, training and continual development.
- Prepare planned schedules for cleaning, maintenance, testing and repairing – prioritising health and safety rules.
- Ensure safe use of facilities and equipment by staff and the public; safeguard facilities, stock and money.
- Assist the Area Manager with an innovative programme of activities and collaborate with the Marketing Officer for publicity.
- Manage staff, inspire them to reach their full potential and model problem‑solving behaviour.
- Prepare reports for the Area Manager and hold staff evaluation sessions per council policy.
- Arrange Centre Management teams as needed.
- Ensure new staff follow the department’s induction procedure.

- Ensure machines and equipment function correctly and report faults.
