  • LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
    • Listening and Speaking – Foundation Level: Be able to hold a simple conversation through the medium of Welsh and English in the context of the daily job using a specific vocabulary that arises regularly in order to present information.
    • Reading and Understanding – Foundation Level: Reading and understanding simple messages and information leaflets through the medium of Welsh and English that relate to the job, and understanding short and simple reports on a familiar topic.
    • Writing – Foundation Level: Be able to complete a simple form and compose a short letter or email through the medium of Welsh and English using a series of key sentences to convey simple information.

Job Description

  • Purpose of the Post. To ensure that the people of Gwynedd are central to everything we do.
  • To carry out the work of the Crematorium/Bereavement service in an effective manner and to implement \’customer care\’ practices.
  • Responsibility for Resources. e.g. staff, finances, equipment; Stock of goods held in reserve for the crematoria; The equipment of the crematorium and associated equipment; The crematorium\’s rooms; First Aid Goods; Formal dress.
  • Principal Duties. Responsibility for the scattering the ashes in the Memorial Garden; Overview of land maintenance service and other undertakers; Placing the casket in the cremators; To operate the crematoria in accordance with the Council\’s procedures and rules; Responsibility for the ashes after cremation; Undertake duties in the reception and chapel for services; Undertake external duties relating to the grounds and the Memorial Wall; Assisting the public and others; Carry out a monthly safety audit of the site; Practice customer care in a polite and professional manner; Any other work in accordance with the direction of the Team Leader; Responsibility for self-development; Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at work rules in accordance with the responsibilities set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council\’s Health and Safety Policy; To act within the Council\’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality; Responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council\’s information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in compliance with Data Protection legislation; A commitment to reduce the Council\’s carbon emissions in line with the Carbon Management Plan and to encourage others to take positive action towards reducing the Council\’s carbon footprint; Undertake any other corresponding and reasonable duty that is consistent with the salary level and level of responsibility of the job; Responsibility to report concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
  • Special Circumstances. e.g. need to work unsocial hours, special work arrangements, etc.; Work overtime as required; Follow a daily working pattern in accordance with an action plan provided by the Team Leader; Engage with the public in a polite and professional manner; Working on weekends as required and also over the Council\’s Christmas holiday period; All members of staff are required to accept an element of flexibility with the duties to their posts in order for the Team Leader to have the ability to overcome unforeseen circumstances that come with the Crematorium.
