About the role: The main aim for this new role will be to promote the welfare and wellbeing of our individuals, ensuring they develop new skills, interests and aptitudes at work whilst also ensuring they have a variety of leisure activities available to them. You will also need to explore and implement ways in which they are able to contribute to the wider society. You will need to ensure that our individuals are provided with real opportunities to live and work in the community.
Duties to include:
- Organising and running the weekly Seren Club with a small budgetary provision to organise guest attendees/entertainers with varied activities scheduled over the full year.
- Plan and arrange a series of events throughout the year for the benefit of the wider community.
- Make appropriate arrangements for individuals to attend external activities advertised through various methods, including Llwybrau Llesiant.
- Set up, plan and co-ordinate a bilingual community radio station run by individuals in conjunction with Llwybrau Llesiant and investigate the possibility of co-ordinating programmes with other enterprises.
- Establish and hold quarterly forums with our individuals to collate and support their wishes and new ideas for changes and improvements.
- Establish a quarterly bilingual 'newsletter' prepared by individuals for individuals, their families and friends.
- Arrange 2 social events for individuals and Seren staff per annum.
- Arrange Events and Fairs on behalf of Seren, such as open evenings for the public, Eisteddfodau and Car Boot Sales.
- Work with the local schools to raise awareness and promote the work of the organisation.
- Co-ordinate sessions with Special Needs Schools in relation to activities available at the organisation.
- Ensure our Facebook pages are active, lively and up to date.
- Organise fundraising activities towards the amenities fund for the benefit of our individuals throughout the year.
- Co-ordinate the 4-pillar provision.
- Co-facilitate an on-call system with the Care Team on a rota basis.
- Support individuals as part of Day Care Services who help to organise and host such activities/events.
- Be a part of any new developments relevant to support the voice of individuals and to promote their wishes.
- Encourage and assist each individual to participate in activities that will encourage them to gain skills, knowledge and improve self-confidence, whilst adhering to the Active Support plans at all times.
- Supporting each individual to communicate their wishes, choices and rights to others in ways which enhance their status as citizens and communicate effectively with relatives, colleagues and representatives of other agencies, in promoting the rights and wishes of the service user.
- Ensuring awareness of any changes to the individuals Care Plans.
About you: We are looking for someone who is cheerful and compassionate by nature, possesses sound judgment, initiative and problem-solving abilities and is able to pay attention to the details. Demonstrates both sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness, whilst working in a pressured environment with groups of diverse individuals and staff. Will carry out the duties of the post in a mature and responsible manner, seeking and receiving support as necessary.
Requirements for the role:
- NVQ 2 qualification in Care or be willing to successfully complete within 12 months.
- Experience of working with people with learning disabilities.
- Experience of Marketing.
- Current driving licence.
- Motivated and forward thinking.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Works well within a team and independently.
- Ability to make appropriate decisions.
- Well organised and able to multi-task to manage projects.
- Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

- Strong IT skills, including experience of Microsoft packages and social media especially Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
- Excellent bilingual communication skills, both verbal, including face to face and telephone and written.
- Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.
Successful appointments are subject to satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS check (cost met by the company), and candidates must be authorised to work in the UK.
