Flintshire Libraries and Leisure Limited, trading as Gwella, is a Local Authority Trading Company (LATC), wholly owned by Flintshire County Council, which manages leisure centres, libraries and heritage services via an Agency Agreement. As an independent organisation, Gwella works co-operatively with the Council to deliver valued and sustainable community services. Gwella employs circa 250 employees and 100+ relief workers. The organisation has an annual turnover of approximately £11 million per annum, with more than two million customers a year visiting and/or using its services. Gwella manages four leisure centres (in Buckley, Deeside, Flint and Mold), seven libraries (in Broughton, Buckley, Connah’s Quay, Deeside, Flint, Holywell and Mold), sports development, the National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS), museum and heritage services, and nearly 200 outdoor children’s play areas.
