Design Manager

GVR Solutions are currently working with a client of ours who is a specialist joinery contractor. They primarily deal with a number of commercial projects across London and the South East.

They are looking for an experienced Design Manager to join their rapidly growing design team. The right candidate will be able to take a strong lead in projects and have extensive knowledge within joinery or any other interior trade.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the design team in creation and development.
2. Ensure that all designs meet functional, aesthetic, and performance specifications while adhering to the relevant industry standards.
3. Ensure the team follows a structured product development process.
4. Support team members with design challenges, offering solutions and technical advice where needed.
5. Work closely with the directors to understand their specific needs and provide regular design updates, ensuring a collaborative and transparent design process.
6. Conduct regular team meetings and design reviews to track progress and maintain alignment with the company\’s product goals.

Minimum Requirements:

1. A minimum of 3 years of design managerial experience.
2. 3 years of subcontract or manufacturer experience.
3. Excellent organisational skills.
4. Ability to work to tight deadlines and provide high levels of customer care.
5. Construction/design-related further education preferred.
6. Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
7. Strong track record of ensuring quality design information is provided in accordance with project requirements.
8. High-level competency with AutoCAD.
