Health and Safety Manager Required in Essex

GVR Solutions are currently representing a well-established main contractor who are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve the company’s Safety, Health, Environment and Quality management systems.

As a main contractor they work on primarily high end fit out and refurbishment Projects in the Commercial and Leisure sectors with values ranging from £10K - £1m in value.

But they also work on larger schemes which could go up to £20m in total in the Data Centre sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to lead and continually improve the company's SHEQ strategy
  • Influence a positive safety, quality and environmental culture throughout the business
  • Undertake responsibilities as the principal advisor on SHEQ matters to site Teams, Directors and Contracts Managers
  • Proficiency in developing, implementing and maintaining company health and safety procedures
  • Have all responsibility for the company’s SHEQ function
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses when they occur
  • Supervise Phase Plans, RAMS and site-specific safety documentation
  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits
  • Keep company policies, procedures and management systems up to date
  • Oversee site audits, inspections, incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Support site teams on SHEQ matters
  • Manage SHEQ training and competency requirements across the business
  • Support the wider business with risk management, continuous improvement and reports on SHEQ Performance
  • Identify and introduce digital systems and processes that improve SHEQ reporting, document control and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and maintain both ISO(phone number removed) and ISO9001 systems

Key Requirements

  • Must have NVQ Level 6 Occupational Health & Safety
  • Valid NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Must hold a Chartered IOSH or Cert IOSH membership.
  • Valid and in-date CSCS Card and a full UK driving licence.
  • Good working knowledge of the construction legislation.
  • Experience working with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Strong communication, leadership and problem solving skills
  • A particular attention to detail
  • Desirable qualifications include: Lead Auditor, ISO Internal Auditor, Fire Door Inspection, Temporary Works, Environmental Management or Leadership/Management.
