Estimator Required in Essex

GVR Solutions are currently looking for an Estimator to join one of our well-established main contractor clients.

As a Main Contractor, they primarily focus on high-end commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects valued between £10k-£1m.

This is a completely new role due to continuous company growth, and as a result of this, they are expecting to double their turnover in the next couple of years.

The Estimator must have/be

  • Minimum of 2 years working for a main contractor on fit-out projects.
  • Have a practical and logical mind and a methodical way of thinking.
  • Show a creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to write clear and precise reports and relay complex information in a simple and direct way to a diverse range of people.
  • Have a detailed knowledge of past and current building technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters.
  • A team player.
  • Participate in continuous self-development.

Key responsibilities of the Estimator

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates for refurbishment and fit-out projects.
  • Carrying out quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and client documents.
  • Preparing and issuing subcontractor enquiries and analysing returned quotations.
  • Building up cost plans and pricing schedules for tenders.
  • Working closely with the commercial and pre-construction teams to develop winning bids.
  • Reviewing project specifications and identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
  • Ensuring all estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with market rates.
  • Attending pre-tender, mid-tender, and post-tender meetings where required.
  • Supporting tender submissions and preparing commercial documentation.
  • Maintaining and updating cost databases and historical pricing information.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing information.
  • Assisting in handover of successful tenders to the delivery team
