GVR Solutions are working with a successful and growing specialist glazed partitioning contractor, delivering high-end glass partitioning and specialist interior solutions across commercial projects throughout London.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of projects, working closely with clients, main contractors, project teams and the company's operational staff.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute QS looking to join a specialist contractor where they can have genuine ownership of projects and make a significant contribution to the continued growth of the business.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor

  • Managing the commercial performance of multiple projects
  • Reviewing and managing contracts, specifications and commercial terms
  • Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment
  • Managing variations, change control and contractual notices
  • Pricing and negotiating variations with clients and main contractors
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and forecasts
  • Managing procurement and subcontractor packages
  • Reviewing and agreeing subcontractor applications and payments
  • Preparing cost/value reports and commercial forecasts
  • Managing monthly commercial reporting
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Maintaining accurate project cost records
  • Managing interim valuations and payment processes
  • Preparing, negotiating and agreeing final accounts
  • Liaising with clients, main contractors, consultants and internal project teams
  • Supporting the Project Management and Operations teams with commercial advice
  • Assisting with tenders and pre-contract commercial activities where required
  • Ensuring contractual and commercial obligations are properly managed

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you must have/be

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Senior QS or Commercial Manager
  • Experience within glazed partitioning, glazing, interiors, fit-out or specialist construction
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management
  • Experience managing variations and final accounts
  • Strong knowledge of valuations, applications for payment and cost reporting
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
  • Good IT skills, particularly Excel and relevant commercial software
  • The ability to build strong relationships with clients and project teams
