Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse looking for a night role with an excellent work-life balance?
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Night RVN to join a busy 24-hour veterinary hospital in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. With a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota, this role offers the chance to work in a supportive hospital environment while enjoying extended periods away from work.
The role would suit an RVN with a passion for emergency and critical care, although previous ECC experience isn't essential if you're keen to develop your skills within a hospital setting.
The Role
You’ll work 7 consecutive nights followed by 14 nights off, with shifts running from 7:45pm to 7:45am.
During your week of nights, you’ll work alongside an experienced member of the night nursing team and a dedicated night vet. Additional support is also available from two support nurses on call.
The hospital has a varied and busy caseload, giving you exposure to a wide range of inpatient and emergency cases.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality patient care throughout the night
- Monitoring and nursing hospitalised inpatients
- Supporting emergency and critical care cases
- Delivering excellent out-of-hours patient care
- Communicating with and supporting clients
- Working collaboratively with the night vet and wider nursing team
- Contributing to a high standard of patient and client care
About You
We’re looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) who enjoys hospital nursing and is passionate about providing excellent patient care.
You’ll ideally have:
- RCVS registration
- Small animal nursing experience
- An interest in emergency and critical care
- A calm and organised approach to overnight nursing
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to high standards of patient and client care
Previous ECC experience is welcomed but not essential. This could also be a great opportunity for an RVN looking to develop their hospital and emergency nursing skills.
The Rota & Salary
- 7 nights on / 14 nights off
- 7:45pm – 7:45am
- Part-time position
- £35,000 FTE / £27,832 pro rata
- Annual salary paid evenly throughout the year

About the Hospital
This is a busy 24-hour veterinary hospital with a varied caseload and an experienced, collaborative team.
The hospital has recently undergone refurbishment and benefits from modern facilities including a CT scanner and digital X-ray, supporting the team in providing high-quality diagnostic and emergency care.
You’ll be joining an established night team with four night vets working on a 1 week on / 3 weeks off rota, alongside experienced nursing colleagues and additional overnight support.
The hospital is located on the edge of the Cotswolds in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, with excellent access to Oxford city centre.
