Children\'s Surgery, Theatres and Anaesthesia (CSTA ) is a large directorate comprising theatres and associated clinical areas. This role will be focused in Evelina Theatres where you will train to be an integral member of the peri-operative team. Main duties of the job Your main role will involve moving patients to and from the operating theatre: -Assisting in setting up surgical equipment, transporting and storing sterile instrument and supplies, and conducting regular inventory checks to report shortages. -Acting as a circulating assistant, supporting the surgical team. Cleaning and tidying theatre areas after surgery, disposing of waste safely. While doing this you will be required to exert moderate physical effort. -You will be responsible for assisting trained staff in the peri-operative environment. -You will be courteous and communicate sensitively with patients, their families and all members of the MDT. Provide excellent patient-centred care skills to patients and their families. Undertake a range of delegated duties including portering for patients, overseeing theatre consumables and supplies, checking of equipment under supervision, acting as a runner between theatres when required. Assist in the organisation and running of the theatres by undertaking housekeeping and clerical duties as appropriate Assist in the cleaning of clinical areas and equipment, ensuring that the area is clear of potential hazards, removing clinical waste and contaminated items to relevant collection areas. Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals. To act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care. Provides support and assistance to the nursing staff in Evelina Theatres. Work flexibly between areas dependant on service requirements.
