Are you passionate about delivering exceptional emergency nursing care to children and young people? We are seeking experienced Band 6 senior staff nurses to join our skilled multi-disciplinary team. The role involves coordinating and leading a shift on a regular basis and providing professional and inspirational leadership to ensure patients and their families receive high quality clinical care and an excellent patient experience. This position requires working days, nights and weekends. Shift notice will be provided to enable you to plan your work and home life.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning and provision of specialist nursing advice, and will carry out specialist nursing procedures. The post holder will provide clinical supervision to other staff, students and may undertake research, lead clinical audits in their specialist area, and contribute to service development. Ensuring the safety and well-being of service users, the post holder will adopt person-centred care principles and promote dignity and human rights.
Qualifications / Professional Registration
- Registered Nurse (RN1/RN2/RN12 or RN Child) on the NMC register, appropriate level for the area of speciality.
- Post-registration qualification in or demonstrate relevant experience and competence in the appropriate area of speciality.
- Mentorship/Teaching qualification.
- Evidence of professional and clinical knowledge supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD.
Additional Information
Able and willing to work flexible shift patterns, internal rotation to day and night duty and unsocial hours according to service needs.
Skills / Knowledge / Ability
- Up-to-date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues and evidence-based practice.
- Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners.
- Good communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information, including distressed relatives and care of terminally ill patients.
- Awareness of clinical governance and risk management and its impact on role and department.
- Ability to influence and negotiate with others; organise and plan own time and that of junior staff and learners.
Previous Experience
- Previous post-registration experience within the relevant specialty.
- Experience coordinating a shift.
- Supervision of junior staff.
- Competence in the management of patients within the speciality.
