Guy's and St Thomas' is among the UK's busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services. Guy's is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. St Thomas' has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions. Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. In February 2021, the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease.

This role plays a vital part in implementing the NHS London Procurement Partnership (NHS LPP) vision & strategy, approved by the NHS LPP Steering Board, and in delivering the aspiration of the Managing Director and Board to become a world-class procurement partner of choice for the NHS and the wider public sector. This role is a fast changing, challenging, high profile strategic and influential role that will lead and develop the day-to-day operation of what is in the main, a best-in-class procurement and category management function.

Main duties of the job:

• Lead and develop the commercial strategic direction of the Procurement category workstreams (including Clinical Digital Solutions; Estates, Facilities & Professional Services; Medical Healthcare Pharmacy Services; Workforce).
• Lead the Procurement Shared Services teams including Contract Management, Procurement and Strategic Supplier Relationship Management.
• Work with customers and members to ensure that they receive innovative and timely expert advice and delivery support.
• Represent NHS LPP at the NHS LPP Steering Board.
• Act as a strong leader, respected by key stakeholders and other senior key decision makers of stakeholder organisations.

Person specification:

• Academic background in a related topic e.g. clinical/medical or business/commercial MBA or equivalent level of experience.
• Ability to deliver at a regional and national level.
• Maintains a wide network of contacts in commercial and public sector.
• Significant commercial experience in the public sector.
