An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior midwifery leader to provide clinical and professional leadership, expert clinical advice and management support to ensure that midwifery care is delivered to the highest standards.
Main duties of the job
The main duties and responsibilities of the role are the proactive and visible leadership and management of all resources across key areas of the midwifery service.
The Lead Midwife will be responsible for the teams within and the operational running of all outpatient areas and our Home from Home birthing environment. These areas also include: Maternity Assessment Unit, Antenatal Clinic, Community Midwifery services, and Continuity of Care teams. With the support of matrons in each area (3), the Lead Midwife will also be responsible for specialist midwifery services including fetal medicine, bereavement, screening, and digital.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Leadership and operational management of the specific clinical areas.
- Communication with a variety of stakeholders in the service, including service users, vaccination and screening teams, along with primary care and service managers of community estates.
- Service improvement in the areas within the portfolio to work in line with the maternity strategy and Good to Outstanding Programme.
- Be responsible for the safety and quality of care provided in the clinical areas.
- Support, educate and develop the teams within the service.
