We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commissioning and Service Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ownership of the Conveyor Care process for Guttridge equipment from point of sale to site handover. This role combines technical commissioning work with planning, coordination, and customer liaison responsibilities. You will be responsible for estimating, planning, overseeing, and carrying out commissioning, installation, servicing, and repair activities on site – ensuring that Guttridge’s equipment is installed and performing to specification while maintaining high standards of safety and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of all commissioning activities from order handover to final sign-off
- Estimate commissioning times and prepare schedules and resource plans
- Produce commissioning documentation, checklists, and reports
- Prepare and issue site-specific RAMS
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, site safety rules, and Guttridge’s HSE standards
- Undertake on-site commissioning including any end user training (if required) or Guttridge conveyors and bulk handling systems
- Lead and manage Guttridge and subcontractor engineering teams, activities on site to ensure compliance with company standards, policies, specifications, and safety requirements
- Ensure smooth coordination between all internal departments to deliver successful project outcomes
- Plan and oversee service and repair work on installed equipment, including any customer concern/warranty work
- Carry out hands-on servicing repairs when required to maintain technical understanding and first-hand knowledge of product information
- Support the development of preventative maintenance plans and aftersales service offerings
- Provide post-installation feedback to both internal teams and customers, and to improve future product reliability and ease of commissioning
- Work closely with the Customer Concern Team to assist with technical investigations and warranty reduction initiatives
Requirements
- Proven experience in commissioning, installation, or servicing of mechanical/electro-mechanical equipment, ideally within bulk material handling or similar industries
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experience in producing RAMS and working within CDM frameworks
- Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills
- Willingness to work away from home for extended periods, often at short notice, predominately in the UK, with occasional international travel
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing site activities
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems and instrumentation
- Mechanical/Electrical qualification or served apprenticeship
- Any of the following qualifications are preferred: CSCS card, Safety Passport, CDM Awareness Training, SSSTS or SMST, IOSH
