Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic individual for a housekeeping position within our Estates & Facilities team in the NHS. The role involves maintaining cleanliness standards across two BDCFT hospitals, working within a specified rota pattern.

  • Week 1: Monday – Working, Tuesday – Working, Wednesday – Working, Thursday – Off, Friday – Off, Saturday – Off, Sunday – Off
  • Week 2: Monday – Working, Tuesday – Working, Wednesday – Off, Thursday – Off, Friday – Off, Saturday – Working, Sunday – Working

Main Duties

  • To provide an effective and efficient food and beverage service in line with Food Safety and Hygiene legislation and Improving the Patient Experience (ItPE) protocols.
  • To provide an effective and efficient cleaning service in line with NHS National Standards Cleanliness 2021.
  • To meet the requirements of patients, service users, staff, and visitors to maintain and provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • To work between two BDCFT Hospitals (Lynfield Mount & Airedale Centre for Mental Health).

Person Specification

Essential Knowledge

  • Awareness of cleanliness standards within a healthcare environment
  • Understanding of COSHH

Desirable Knowledge

  • Awareness of food service environment standards
  • Basic knowledge of IT systems (e.g., Word, Outlook)

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety (or willing to work towards during a 6‑month probationary period)
  • Allergen Level 2 Certification (or willing to work towards during a 6‑month probationary period)

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 1 in Cleaning and Support Services or equivalent experience
  • NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Support Services or equivalent experience

Essential Experience

  • Experience of either food service or cleaning within a healthcare environment
  • Understanding the importance of health & safety

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of working in a food service environment
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment
  • Experience of using industrial cleaning equipment
