Job Summary
The Library and Knowledge Service plays a crucial role in supporting staff, service users and partners in accessing high quality information resources with the aim of supporting knowledge management, health promotion, education and evidence‑based care. As the Library & Information Resource Manager you can lead an innovative, established and impactful team that has won recognition and influence at both regional and national levels.
As a versatile and dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal skills you can help shape how our service is provided by creating a compelling vision through influencing the Research & Knowledge Service Strategy. As new priorities and challenges emerge, you can meet the needs of our stakeholders through supporting collaborative relationships with our communities and partners.
Responsibilities
- Managing a transparent, efficient and multidisciplinary Library, Information & Knowledge Service at Bradford District Care NHS Trust.
- Being responsible for the continual development of both the service and staff.
- Providing and promoting access to high quality information resources with the aim of supporting knowledge management, health promotion, education and evidence‑based care.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Degree or Post‑Graduate Qualification in Library/Information Science
- Chartered member of CILIP or equivalent experience
Desirable Qualifications
- Teaching Qualification
Essential Training
- In‑depth knowledge of information resources for the health and medical sciences
- Awareness of the library and information needs of NHS staff
Desirable Training
- Understanding of current government policy within health
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience delivering library and information services
- Experience of staff supervision
- Experience of stock processing and management
- Experience of budgetary control
- Experience in End‑User Training
Knowledge
- Good IT knowledge, including using the internet, e‑mail and MS Office
- In‑depth knowledge of information resources for health
Skills
- In‑depth literature searching, and information management and dissemination skills
- Experience of working with an electronic library management system
- Excellent IT skills
- Ability to plan and deliver a training programme
- Effective verbal communication skills, adjusting language, style and content appropriate to the audience
- Able to plan, prioritise and manage own workload, setting and maintaining high standards for themselves and others
- Effective written communication skills with the ability to write high‑quality reports
