The Role

London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) is seeking two dedicated and experienced Subject Leads to provide academic leadership for business modules within our Foundation School. The Subject Lead is a key academic role responsible for the design, delivery, and quality of specific modules. You will ensure that your modules are intellectually stimulating, industry-relevant, and pedagogically sound. Whether you are supporting students at the start of their journey at Level 3 or guiding them through their professional development at Levels 4 and 5, your focus will be on maintaining high academic standards and driving student success. While this role does not involve direct line management, you will provide the "academic North Star" for your modules—coordinating with Module Coordinators and lecturers to ensure a consistent and high-quality experience for every student.

Key Responsibilities

  • Academic Leadership: Lead the vision and coherence of your assigned business modules, ensuring they align with programme specifications and industry expectations.
  • Curriculum Design: Develop and maintain high-quality teaching materials, structured delivery plans, and VLE content that meet rigorous academic standards.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Design innovative and robust assessments, including marking schemes, and ensure students receive high-quality, developmental feedback.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee standardisation and moderation processes to ensure fairness and consistency across all delivery groups.
  • Student Success: Use data (including NSS feedback and B3 indicators like retention and progression) to identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements.
  • Team Coordination: Work closely with delivery teams and Module Coordinators to ensure the curriculum is taught effectively and consistently.

About You

We are looking for a professional who balances subject expertise with a genuine passion for teaching and student achievement. You should be comfortable using data to inform your practice and have a collaborative approach to working with academic teams.

Essential:

  • Qualifications: A relevant Postgraduate or Professional qualification in Business, Management, or a related discipline.
  • Teaching Experience: Substantial experience in teaching, learning, and assessment within Higher Education.
  • Subject Expertise: Expert knowledge of the business landscape, maintained through scholarship or professional practice.
  • Quality & Standards: A strong understanding of HE quality processes, including moderation and academic integrity.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and motivate teaching teams.

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent) and/or HEA Fellowship.
  • Experience in curriculum development and the use of student engagement metrics to drive performance.
  • Active professional practice or research aligned to modern business trends.
