We deliver a wide variety of programmes, including bachelor’s degree programmes, master’s degree programmes, professional training, English Language training, and corporate & executive education. When you decide to work with GUS, you will be joining an industry leading, global organisation that has a reach in over 150 different countries.
The Position
Global University Systems is looking for an exceptional Marketing Director to take our brands, marketing capability and commercial impact to the next level. This is not a role for someone who simply wants to maintain what already exists. We are looking for a game-changing marketing leader. Someone who can look at a business, identify where the biggest opportunities are, build a bold strategy and deliver measurable impact. Someone who understands that brilliant branding is not just about how something looks, it is about creating distinction, changing perception, building demand and driving growth.
The Opportunity
Global University Systems is a global education organisation with an ambitious portfolio of institutions, students and audiences around the world. We have scale, reach and an incredible platform to build from. You will take a fresh look at our brands, our audiences and our marketing capability and identify what needs to change to create greater impact. And, crucially, you will translate great marketing into real commercial results.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Driving Transformation
We are looking for someone who is comfortable challenging the status quo. You won't simply inherit a strategy and keep it running. You will assess what is working, identify what isn't and make the changes needed to create meaningful progress. You will:
- Identify the biggest opportunities to strengthen our brands and marketing impact.
- Develop bold strategies that create measurable commercial and brand growth.
- Challenge existing ways of working and introduce new ideas.
- Build a clear vision for where our brands need to go next.
- Turn strategy into action and action into results.
- Create momentum and ensure marketing is genuinely moving the business forward.
Building Brands That Drive Growth
You will lead the development of powerful, distinctive brands that create genuine competitive advantage. You will understand how brand positioning, creativity, storytelling and customer experience work together to influence audiences and drive demand. You will:
- Define compelling brand strategies and positioning.
- Create clear and distinctive brand identities.
- Strengthen brand awareness, consideration and preference.
- Develop campaigns that change perceptions and build emotional connections.
- Create powerful narratives around our institutions and the impact of education.
- Ensure our brands stand out in increasingly competitive markets.
This is about building brands that don't just look good. It's about building brands that perform.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Marketing Director with a proven track record of transformation and impact. You may come from education, consumer brands, technology, media, digital businesses or another ambitious, fast-moving, international environment. What matters most is that you have evidence that you have made a difference. We want to hear about the brands you transformed. The growth you created. The markets you changed. The campaigns that delivered. The teams you built. The problems you solved.
You will ideally bring:
- Significant senior marketing leadership experience.
- A proven track record of transforming brands and marketing functions on a global scale.
- Evidence of delivering measurable commercial and brand growth.
- Strong experience across brand strategy, creative, campaigns and digital marketing globally.
- The ability to combine big-picture strategic thinking with exceptional execution.
- Experience building and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial instincts and an understanding of how marketing drives business growth.
- Confidence working with and influencing senior leadership teams.
- A willingness to challenge the status quo.
- High energy, ambition and a strong bias towards action.
The Person
You are not someone who waits for things to happen. You make things happen. You see opportunities quickly and know how to turn them into action. You are comfortable making decisions. You can operate strategically but aren't afraid to get close to the detail when needed. You bring energy into a room. You raise standards. If that sounds like the kind of challenge you've been looking for, we'd like to hear from.
