ABOUT THE JOB
Gunzilla Games is seeking an experienced Production Director to oversee and drive the development, maintenance and growth of OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, currently available as Early Access on PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Reporting to the Executive Producer, you will lead, motivate, and help organize the development team, managing a team of Producers to ensure smooth project progression. This role demands an individual who has successfully guided large-scale AAA projects through a full life cycle and a post-launch strategy that supports ongoing growth.
You will be proactive in anticipating team needs, building efficient workflows, unblocking dependencies, and fostering collaboration to deliver outstanding gameplay experiences. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist project direction by driving the planning, and scoping in collaboration with the Executive Producer and Department Heads.
- Work with Department & Creative Heads to define project scope, high-level roadmap, timelines, key deliverables, strategies, and budgets.
- Work with SLT to understand the product objectives and help establish a Product Roadmap.
- Own and drive the Development roadmap & plan
- Manage a team of Producers to effectively deliver on that plan
- Ensure efficient and effective use of available resources by ensuring that all development pipelines are understood, applied and optimised where possible
- Own the project information strategy, ensuring smooth communication of objectives, deadlines, priorities, tasks and resources.
- Interpret design and specifications into tasks, ensuring content aligns with milestones and deliverables.
- Oversee and contribute to development, focusing on pipeline efficiency, workflow, risk management, scheduling, tracking, and resource allocation.
- Adapt to project changes while maintaining a credible project plan.
- Monitor progress against the project schedule
- Guide the development of sustainable systems, features, and gameplay to support a long-term release strategy, including live production.
- Own and maintain the project’s Jira database, managing task and ticket tracking.
- Motivate and support the team, fostering a positive and constructive work environment.
- Coordinate with QA leads to cover testing requirements.
- Drive improvements in studio production practices.
- Define team structures and roles, evaluate candidates, and make critical hiring decisions.
- Manage relationships and agreements with external partners and suppliers.
- Devise and manage strategies for successful live deployment and post-launch support.
- Seek out creative expertise and solutions as needed.
- Build the organizational structure to maximize team talent.
- Anticipate risks and setbacks, establishing plans to mitigate them.
- Foster communication and collaboration with colleagues, co-dev studios, and partners.
- Sync with production staff to ensure project pacing.
- Continuously reflect and refine processes and practices for improvement.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in a production leadership role within the games industry, overseeing large-scale AAA projects.
- A degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or relevant training.
- Strong ability to balance studio and player needs in a development roadmap that enhances game quality and user experience.
- Proven experience in developing, mentoring, and motivating a team of Producers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Highly organized, proactive, self-starter with excellent time management, planning, and communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of development pipelines, interdependencies, and expertise in various project management methodologies (Agile, Traditional).
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools (e.g., MS Office, Jira, Perforce) and experience with Unreal Engine is advantageous.
- Dependable and committed to project success, able to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
