The System Engineer Team Lead is part of the IT Infrastructure team and reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager. This role is a senior technical leader responsible for overseeing the global systems infrastructure team. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of enterprise systems. The Team Lead will guide the team in delivering high-quality support, managing complex projects, and aligning infrastructure initiatives with business and IT strategy.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of system engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Allocate resources, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of infrastructure tasks and projects.
- Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues and guide resolution efforts.
- Oversee the provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of global systems infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, and messaging platforms.
- Drive standardization and automation of infrastructure processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
- Ensure systems are managed in accordance with SLAs, security policies, and compliance requirements.
- Lead or contribute to the design and implementation of infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
- Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions from development to production.
- Provide architectural input and strategic recommendations aligned with business goals and IT roadmaps.
- Oversee administration of Microsoft Exchange (O365 & On-prem), Active Directory, Intune, VMware, and related platforms.
- Ensure timely patching, upgrades, and performance tuning of systems in accordance with change management procedures.
- Maintain documentation, monitor system health, and ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.
- Work closely with global IT teams, business units, and vendors to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on system performance, risks, and improvement initiatives.
- Participate in audits, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity efforts.
Profile
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team lead role.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Exchange (O365 & On-prem), Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Intune, and backup solutions (e.g., Veeam).
- Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, security, and performance optimization.
- Experience managing global environments and supporting systems across multiple time zones.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, change/incident management, and enterprise monitoring tools.
- MCSE or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
