Scope of the role
Join our team as an intern within the analytics division of the European Power and Gas trading team. We are looking for a talented individual who is passionate about energy markets and is eager to learn from experienced professionals. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience within a commodity trading environment with a focus on market analysis. We offer a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, and the opportunity to make a real impact in the energy industry. Key Responsibilities
- Understand and evaluate existing supply & demand modelling, adding to & improving the content wherever possible.
- Process, manipulate, visualise data using Python and SQL. Use historical data to build models and forecasts (regressions, optimisations, others) in Python.
- Using newly gained knowledge of the energy markets to suggest trading ideas or areas that warrant new analysis, as well as performing said analysis.
- Clear written & verbal communication of work to team members and other trading desks and/or company management as needed.
- Collaborate with IT & other analysts to build out the platform, increasing desk ability to validate & contextualise analytics.
- Ad hoc tasks including but not limited to project work, pricing support, information communication (spreadsheets & other tools), etc.
About you
- Currently completing or recently graduated with a bachelor's degree or master's in a numerical/analytical field (e.g., Maths, Sciences, Engineering, Economics, or a similar field), or MBA.
- Proficient in Python and Excel (SQL desirable but not necessary) - Experience dealing with large datasets.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to logically work through problems and clearly communicate solutions.
- Highly motivated and shows interest in energy markets and trading.
- Self-sufficient where necessary.
- Team player who can easily integrate with colleagues.
- Fluent in English.
