The Team Lead – Contract Manager is responsible for the negotiation of a variety of contractual documents, including EFETs, ISDAs, NDAs and Market Data Agreements. The position reports to the Global Head of Legal – LNG, Gas and Power and oversees day‑to‑day team management, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant contract execution while balancing hands‑on contract expertise with people leadership. Service levels, strong controls and effective collaboration with Front Office, Credit, Risk, Tax and Back Office are central to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Contract Manager team, allocating workload, setting daily priorities and managing capacity to meet business demands.
  • Conduct quality reviews and ensure adherence to defined controls and procedures.
  • Negotiate various energy Master Agreements for natural gas, power and financial trading (ISDAs, EFETs, Master Netting Agreements) and other industry‑specific or bespoke agreements with external counterparties.
  • Negotiate Non‑Disclosure Agreements with counterparties globally.
  • Support the Market Data team with review of relevant agreements.
  • Liaise with Legal, Credit, Tax, Front Office and other internal stakeholders to conclude negotiations of agreements.
  • Work with Legal, Credit, Tax and Front Office to analyse and understand new products and practices in connection with existing or new activities.
  • Perform due diligence and analysis of new master agreement documents and develop templates with the support of Legal, Credit and Tax as necessary.
  • Review client‑provided documentation for content and conformity, providing comments.
  • Handle all aspects of document management including special terms, cancellations, novations and more.
  • Identify and address legal, financial and operational issues, seeking advice from management and subject‑matter experts for complicated cases.
  • Proactively seek resolutions to blockages in negotiations by defining and communicating outstanding issues to the appropriate person and relevant business groups.
  • Maintain knowledge of contract standards and industry and regulatory initiatives.
  • Participate in the implementation of procedures and protocols for retention and maintenance of documentation and records.

Qualifications

  • Minimum eight years’ experience with trading contracts in banking or commodity sector.
  • Familiarisation with ISDA agreements is essential.
  • Team lead or management experience preferred.
  • Solid awareness of legal risks and control requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to make sound judgments under time pressure.
  • Detail‑oriented, with a proactive and solution‑focused mindset.
  • Proficiency in English language required; speaking additional languages is beneficial.
