The Desk Developer - European Gas & Power Trading Desk will support the traders and analysts in the London office by providing expert-level data manipulation, Python code reviews and deployment, and front-end visualisation.
Key Responsibilities- Support the European Gas & Power trading desk, providing high-quality solutions for day-to-day requirements, as well as guiding longer-term platform development.
- Work closely with analysts to improve existing and new modelling, aiming for an efficient and scalable codebase.
- Work closely with analysts and traders alike to develop data visualisation and manipulation tools.
- Act as a liaison between the trading desks and centralised IT functions to identify key projects and infrastructure. Represent and push forward the data and infrastructure requirements of the desks.
- Drive technology deployment on the desk – pushing the team to use best practices and the newest techniques.
- Degree level in Computer Science or STEM.
- 4+ years’ experience in Python in a production environment, preferably front office.
- 2+ years’ experience producing time series visualisations using an established front end, e.g. Highcharts, Plotly, Bokeh.
- Knowledge of an orchestration framework, e.g. Dagster, Azure Data Factory, Airflow.
- Curation of a datastore and ETL pipelines, either in Python or another technology, e.g. Databricks, Spark, Snowflake.
- 2+ years’ cloud experience, preferably Azure, including use of cloud orchestration, databases, data lakes, and app services.
- Creator of robust Python codebases, including package CI/CD pipelines and dependencies.
- Experience in the energy industry, either in the UK or Europe, desirable.
- Familiarity with real-time asynchronous data flows desirable.
