About the company

gunnercooke is a Top 75 law firm recognised for over 90 industry awards. Launched in 2010, the firm has rapidly grown to over 500 lawyers across 15 global offices in the UK, US, Germany and Austria. Our breadth of expertise covers some of the most interesting and important emerging disciplines, from ESG and charity law, to blockchain and competition. Collaboration is at the forefront of our award-winning culture and is what sets our firm apart from the rest. gunnercooke operates as a fee share model meaning our professionals join as self-employed advisors, free to design and develop the practice they’ve always wanted. Our purpose is simple; to deliver a positive impact for our clients, provide a better life for our people, and to leave a better world than we found. Our charitable arm, the gunnercooke foundation, enables us to directly engage with communities on social issues and to help charitable organisations grow.

The role

This is a 12-month fixed term maternity cover role at the heart of the Partner Services team. Partner Services is the team that keeps gunnercooke’s Partners supported, connected and well looked after. It is the central point of contact for customer success and relationship management across the firm. This role is the engine behind that team; keeping the inbox moving, the calls answered, the data clean, the rewards programme running, the onboarding process supported when cover is needed, and the senior team free to focus on the work only they can do.

The right person will be quick on their feet, warm with people, and unphased by an inbox that can fill up faster than it empties at peak times. The ideal candidate will be resilient, commercially driven, and champion our culture and values being Compassionomics, Laser-like Focus, Humour, and being Boundaryless.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the team that answers the firm’s Partners, by phone, by email, in person.
  • Triaging emails and calls, replying where possible, and escalating where not.
  • Matching Partners with the right people, inside and outside the firm.
  • Maintaining PA relationships and capacities.
  • Keeping HR data current, processing role changes, supporting the HR audit process.
  • Providing holiday cover and additional capacity for the firm’s onboarding function.
  • Creating induction plans and schedules, coordinating sessions across departments.
  • Handling IT and administrative duties relating to leavers from the business.
  • Managing the rewards programme, liaising with Managers across the business.
  • Building the weekly Monday email in HubSpot; producing content and uploading to the intranet.

Essential

  • Solid general admin experience.
  • Genuinely organised; the kind of person who keeps a clean inbox without thinking about it.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Warm, confident, and credible on the phone.
  • A real client-service mindset; naturally helpful, naturally responsive.
  • Process-driven and able to manage structured task lists accurately and to deadline.
  • Resourceful, comfortable working out who to ask and how to get an answer.
  • Working knowledge of basic Microsoft tools.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in a service or office environment.
  • Familiarity with onboarding, HR or compliance administration.
  • Some exposure to communications, marketing or copywriting.
  • Copy editing skills.
  • Degree-level education (English or similar a plus).

We don’t require formal qualifications. Practical experience in service or office environments is valued more highly than academic background.
