A well-established and growing fire & security business is looking to appoint a Fire & Security Engineer to join their engineering team, covering predominantly South and West London, with additional coverage across the South West region.
The role will involve servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and where appropriate installation and commissioning of both fire and security systems across a range of commercial and high-end domestic properties. This is a field-based role covering areas from London out towards Gloucester and down to Devon, although workloads and routes are planned sensibly around engineer locations. The ideal candidate will be based along the M3 or M4 corridor, with locations such as Guildford, Basingstoke, Reading, Bracknell, Slough or surrounding areas all being well suited for the coverage area.
The Role
- Service and maintenance of fire alarm and security systems
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Small works installations
- System commissioning and programming
- Completing engineer reports and compliance paperwork
- Working to current industry regulations and standards
- Participating in a 1 week in 5 on-call rota
Projects are predominantly within high-end domestic environments, so professionalism, communication skills and attention to detail are particularly important. Systems may include:
- Fire alarms
- CCTV
- Intruder alarms
- Access control systems

- Junior / Service Level Engineers
- Experience servicing fire and/or security systems
- Good practical and customer-facing skills
- Ability to follow service schedules and compliance checklists
- Basic fault-finding ability
- Senior / Commissioning Level Engineers
- Strong knowledge of fire and security systems
- Installation and commissioning experience
- Understanding of relevant regulations and standards
- Ability to configure and program systems independently
Qualifications & Experience
- Desirable: FIA qualifications
- Electrical background / qualifications
- Experience within fire and security engineering
- ECS/CSCS card
- Full UK driving licence
Please note: FIA qualifications are not essential and training can be provided following probation. Engineers with points on their licence may still be considered depending on circumstances.
