Gunn Financial Appointments are delighted to be retained by WildLand Ltd. to appoint an Interim Finance Director to cover a period of maternity (9-12 months). With its 200-year vision, WildLand is an organisation dedicated to the rehabilitation of some of Scotland’s most precious landscapes. The company is the custodian of three Scottish estates: WildLand North Coast, WildLand Cairngorm, and WildLand West & Ness. WildLand has planted over four million trees in the Scottish Highlands and created conditions to regenerate countless more – nurturing a landscape where wildlife can thrive and nature can heal itself. WildLand also operates a number of hospitality venues across the Highlands, with all proceeds going back into their conservation efforts.
As Interim Finance Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across WildLand’s Finance and IT functions, ensuring continuity of financial governance, reporting, and systems development, while supporting the Leadership Team in delivering strategic and operational goals during this exciting period of transition for the organisation. The role can ultimately be carried out remotely but with the understanding that there would be some travel across Kinrara and the wider WildLand estates, especially during the initial onboarding period.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Finance and IT teams
- Maintain financial oversight, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly and annual financial reporting (statutory)
- Support the Finance Manager in day-to-day operations
- Oversee the final stages of implementation for the Finance system and ensure smooth adoption across the organisation
- Oversee governance, compliance, and audit processes
- Provide strategic input to the Leadership Team and contribute to ongoing organisational development
- Support WildLand business planning, including facilitating the first annual cycle of planning and budgeting, aligning processes with strategic objectives
- Support the IT Manager in day-to-day IT operations
- Drive improvements in IT operations and infrastructure, ensuring systems are integrated for efficiency
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure continuity and stability in financial leadership
- Maintain and enhance financial systems and reporting processes
- Support the embedding of commercial awareness across teams
- Contribute to IT strategy development and implementation
- Qualified with significant experience in senior finance roles
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage change
- Strong understanding of financial planning, reporting, and compliance
- Experience with IT systems and infrastructure development
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
