We’re now looking for a Finance Manager to join our team and work closely with our Finance Director. This role has responsibility for the core finance function, including month-end close, payroll, cashflow management, operational and client reporting, and the day-to-day oversight of transactional finance activity.
The role involves extensive use of Excel spreadsheets for financial, operational, and client reporting, so strong Excel capability is essential. This is a broad, delivery-focused role within a supportive SME environment. It would suit an experienced Finance Manager or a strong QBE or part-qualified accountant who enjoys ownership, variety, and working closely with operational teams.
What you’ll be doing:
- Taking ownership of the month-end close and preparing accurate management accounts
- Managing payroll, VAT returns, reconciliations, and core accounting entries
- Overseeing the day-to-day finance function and supporting the Accounts Assistant
- Maintaining accurate records within Sage 50 and helping improve finance processes and controls
- Preparing cashflow forecasts and commercial reporting to support planning
- Producing weekly operational reports, monthly performance reporting, and client-specific reports
- Building, maintaining, and analysing detailed Excel-based models and spreadsheets to support month-end close, cashflow forecasting, operational reporting, and client reporting
- Supporting cost control and efficiency through financial and operational analysis
- Acting as the key finance contact for auditors and banking partners, with support from the Finance Director
- Contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and Board reporting
- Working closely with senior managers across operations and client-facing teams
Skills & experience:
- Strong experience in financial management, including month-end close and reporting
- Solid understanding of UK VAT and payroll processing (US payroll experience desirable)
- Experience working with accounting systems (Sage 50 preferred)
- Excellent reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel user, comfortable working with complex, interlinked spreadsheets for reporting, analysis, forecasting, and reconciliation
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Confident communicator able to work across finance, operations, and client-facing teams
- Experience supporting audits and working with external stakeholders
- A formal accounting qualification is not essential; QBE or part-qualified candidates are welcome
What success looks like:
- Month-end is delivered accurately and on time
- Financial data is reliable, well controlled, and trusted across the business
- Cashflow is well managed and clearly forecast
- Operational and client reporting is consistent and valued
- Finance processes are efficient and continue to improve as the business grows
Why join Gungho?
- A 4-day working week (Monday to Thursday)
- Hybrid working opportunities
- Hands-on role with real ownership and visibility
- Private health and dental cover (after qualifying period)
- Your birthday off
- Regular company events and charity days
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Employee referral scheme
